Valencia will become again the global meeting point to promote the transformation of the transportation sector for people and goods, towards a more sustainable mobility thanks to all the initiatives, projects, solutions and knowledge that will be shared during this three-days event.

Around two months before the eMobility Expo 2024 takes place, how are the preparations going?

The congress will feature different vertical forums for each industry segment, from automotive, rail or energy and batteries, to urban mobility and micro-mobility, logistics, maritime and air transportation. Together with different c-level agendas, such as the CEO’s and Leadership Summit, the Fleet Management Summit and the Governments & Manufacturers Summit.

What is new in this edition compared to previous editions, what are the expected challenges? What can participants expect during the 3 days of the conference?

One of the novelties of this edition is that eMobility Expo will host, for the first time, the H2 - Hydrogen World Congress, the largest green hydrogen congress in Europethat will be celebrated during the same days and will bring together experts in the field from around the world. The H2 - Hydrogen World Congress will share the main initiatives developed in Spain and Europe and will include the participation of major investment projects, where Spain is emerging as the world's leading power with more than 20,000 million euros of investment planned. In addition, batteries and charging systems will also have their place in the Energy & Batteries Forum, where the most disruptive success stories in the energy sector, as well as the different aspects related to battery technologies will be discussed.

Who are the stakeholders in the organization of this Congress?

The event will bring together all stakeholders from all segments of the mobility industry (automotive, urban mobility and micro mobility, maritime transport, air transport, rail, bus, logistics, integrated transport systems and energy) to define the future of the industry and analyze the last innovations in the sector. The new edition of eMobility Expo will gather more than 6,000 mobility company executives, fleet managers, IT managers and institutional representatives looking for technological and mobility partners and the latest innovations.

What will be the theme of this edition and why this choice?

The mobility sector will experience in this decade a transformation like never before, driven by two key vectors, new alternative energy sources and technology.Achieving the sustainability goals requires a collective effort, both from the public and private sectors. With the claim 'We are the future of eMobility', we want to help the industry and the public administrations to embrace this transformation and boost more sustainable mobility.

What is the contribution of expected foreign exhibitors and participants?

eMobility Expo aims to be the largest integrated and multi-specialist business platform for the mobility industry in Europe. The new edition will bring together more than 6,000 mobility industry executives, more than 375 international experts and more than 200 exhibiting companies worldwide. The majority of participants come from Europe (80% approximately), but there are also visitors from America and Asia & Middle East.

In the framework of the event, eMobility Innovation World Awards will recognise the most innovative projects in the sector. What is the significance of these awards?

eMobility Expo World Congress will host a new edition of the eMobility Innovation World Awards 2024, that will recognize those solutions and technologies that are shaping the new era of sustainable mobility. The first edition, celebrated last year, received more than 120 nominations and honored initiatives such as Zeleros' hyperloop, Swedish company REH2's hydrogen refueling stations or IOKI's flexible and on-demand public transport management model, among other initiatives. In 2024, the awards will have six categories that credit the initiatives and projects that promote more electrified, connected, green, and safe mobility. All companies, organizations and professionals with innovative projects that contribute to a more sustainable mobility can apply for the awards until January 8, 2024. The winners will be announced at a gala dinner to be held in Valencia on February 14.

What developments do you envisage for eMobility in the coming years?

We can safely predict that the future of mobility will be connected, sustainable and safety-focused. And for this, technology and alternative energies are key levers for the industry.  During more than 120 hours of inspiration, eMobility Expo World Congress will become the meeting point to analyze the sustainability challenges in the mobility field and to explore new technologies and alternative sources of energy to help the decarbonization of the industry. In this sense, the congress will focus on the hydrogen as an alternative fuel for the transportation sector, analyzing its opportunities and challenges. In addition, new technologies such as 5G, IA or IoT will be key to promote smart cities and the connectivity and electrification of vehicles and cities.

What do emissions from the mobility and transport sector represent today in the European Union?

The transport sector is responsible for a quarter of the EU's greenhouse gas emissions. It is therefore crucial that Europe makes this sector more efficient and less dependent on fossil fuels. The transport industry is moving towards a transformation to reduce greenhouse gases and achieve climate neutrality. eMobility Expo World Congress offers a perspective where technologies make sense to integrate them in an innovative way to optimize their processes and help the transport industry become more sustainable.

The European Commission has set itself the objective of reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030, do you think they will arrive?

In the mobility field, sustainability is a crucial element, in which all stakeholders are involved. The European Union has set its targets, but also the mobility and energy sectors, which are amid a transformation, are driven by the European Union's initiatives to achieve a climate neutral continent in terms of carbon emissions from fossil fuels. In fact, more than 15% of NextGeneration funds are directed towards a more sustainable mobility industry, with the aim of making Europe the locomotive that will drive the ultimate model change by 2035. We are on the way to achieving this.

Finally, what information should you remember before the day?

eMobility Expo has become a platform by and for the mobility industry with the involvement of many cross-cutting sectors. It is the platform that will once again make Valencia the hub for sustainable mobility in southern Europe. It will be a great opportunity for attendees to learn about the latest market trends, to promotenetworking and create synergies among all professionals in the sector, thanks to different networking activities: the eMobility Innovation Awards 2024, mentioned before, the eMobility Startup Forum -a forum that will host the entire ecosystem of startups that are revolutionizing the mobility sector-, the Leadership Summit -a lunch with executives from the main leading companies in the sector-, or the eMobility Plaza -a space with exhibitions of the most innovative mobility solutions-. It will be the leading mobility event in 2024.
