PLMA's 2023 World of Private Label International Trade Show - the world's largest private label event - will bring together more than 2,500 exhibiting manufacturers from 70 countries, including more than 1,000 exhibitors of sustainable products and 60 national and regional pavilions. This global event will take place on May 23 and 24 at the RAI exhibition center in Amsterdam. Over 500 products will be on display at New Product Expo, along with over 60 private label ranges from retailers around the world at PLMA Idea Supermarket. Another highlight is PLMA's International Salute to Excellence Awards, which recognize retailers for excellence in their private label food and non-food products and packaging. Over 100 winners will be announced at the show. Organized by The Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA) a non-profit organisation founded in 1979 to promote private label. It is the only organisation of its kind, representing more than 4,000 member companies around the globe. Membership ranges from multinational corporations to small family-owned companies. Their products include food, beverages, snacks, health and beauty, household and kitchen, DIY, and personal and leisure products. Some manufacturers only do private label. Others manufacture well-known brands but also have private label operations. PLMA presented its first trade show in the United States in 1980, its first trade show in Europe in 1986 and its first trade show in Asia in 1994. Today, it provides services to member manufacturers in more than 75 countries. In addition to two annual trade shows in Amsterdam and Chicago, PLMA also offers conferences, executive education programmes, market research, studies and publications.

Le Courrier d’Afrique 54: Hello, can you tell us about the annual International Trade Show “The World of Private Label”?


PLMA’s annual “World of Private Label” International Trade Shows was first organised in 1986. From that first edition welcoming 40 exhibitors, the show has grown into the world’s leading private label B2B and networking event with more than 2,600 exhibiting companies from 70 countries this year.

One month before the annual International Trade Fair "The World of Private Label will take place from May 22 to 24, 2023", how are the preparations going?


These last weeks before the show are primarily focused on finetuning the last operational and logistical details, as well as on promoting the show to retail and wholesale buyers and other visitors.

How are stand reservations made?


The “World of Private Label” traditionally has a very high demand for stand space. For the 2023 show, space already sold out in November and our waiting list holds more than 500 companies. Any company wishing to exhibit should always make sure to register very early therefore.


What is new in this edition compared to previous ones?


The novelties of the show are with our exhibitors on the show floor but also concentrated in PLMA’s Idea Supermarket and New Product Expo. The Idea Supermarket displays private label ranges of more than 60 retailers from all over the world. New Product Expo displays the newest products offered by this year’s exhibitors, selected by PLMA’s New Product Expo Selection Committee.


What attendance do you expect at this unmissable event?




Based on visitor registrations received so far, we expect to welcome more than 15,000 trade visitors from 120 countries this year.

Who are the stakeholders in the organization of this Fair?

The Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA) is a not-for-profit association whose members are manufacturers of private label products from all over the world. All of PLMA’s programmes, including the annual “World of Private Label” Trade Show, are aimed at generating contacts and business for PLMA’s member manufacturers.


A last word for exhibitoirs and visitors?

The “World of Private Label” holds the largest and most varied private label product offer anywhere to be found. This year’s more than 2.600 exhibiting companies include more than 700 new exhibitors from 55 countries, so make sure to plan for sufficient time on the show floor to make the most out of your visit
